Today was the day for Steve to go see his Jesus.. he began his new life around 8:15 this morning. We will keep you updated with news as soon as we're aware. Please keep checking this site throughout the weekend for arrangement news and other info. The family is asking for no flowers, but donations to be sent to his church Overflow Fellowship .... this will be setup on the website shortly. Please continue to pray for the family, especially Deborah, Stephanie, Sara, as well as the rest of the family.
Roy Lambert: When I think of Steve, two words come to mind: fun, and giving.
ReplyDeleteFUN: Steve and I swapped the same lump of coal for many Christmases. When I visited, he would announce that we needed to go to the church and "move some tables", which was code for "play some basketball." And he always had a special verse for me, such as Job 19:17 "My breath is offensive to my wife", or Job 15:27 "His face is covered with fat, and his waist bulges with flesh." He could preach a sermon on these verses that certainly brought me under conviction! I will miss the crazy humor that Steve and I shared!
GIVING: Anyone who knew Steve can give stories about his selfless and sacrificial giving in so many ways. Being handy in construction, he would donate his time to build or remodel. He was a sound technician for many years. He gave out of his own means to provide for others.
I encourage others of you to post your stories and tributes to Steve, which I hope will be a comfort to his family.
We will miss you, Steve!
I am so glad we moved back to GA. We were able to go to the family vacation at Vogel last year in November. He & Deborah were so nice & welcoming to our new daughter, Jema. We adopted her in Colorado in 2009, she was 19 yrs old & deaf. They watch her video of her signing a song at her birth families Spanish church. They were such a blessing to us! Uncle Steve told me I came back with an accent LOL a Colorado accent! We were there for seven yrs, though! Steve was only 3 yrs older than me. When we (my brother & I) go visit Grandma the thing to watch out for was Steve & Dennis was in his bedroom with the door shut! Lord help the person who opened the door sssshhhheeewwwww! We love you so much! Tell Daddy & Grandpa how to build our mansions!

ReplyDeleteSteve Jones is the reason we retired back here in Georgia. Steve called us in Alabama and told us that he knows a house for sale that was built just for us! We closed on the house 3 weeks later. I look forward to the memories this house will contain. My most memorable image I can recall about Steve is the photo of my husband pretending to lick Steve's feet while Steve was asleep. Steve had a great sense of humor; that will truly be missed. Steve can you find us a new house up in Heaven, and if possible make it PINK!! I will miss you~ Mary
